the smallest gallery you'll ever get lost in ...
History Tree -
Be sure to check out the link to a recent Argus
Leader article about the gallery's History Tree
decorated with handmade original ornaments.
Artists from all nine
reservations and tribal lands are featured. As
with the other art and craft in the gallery, they
are Indigenous handmade in America, mostly by
Northern Plains tribal artists.

Turn Back Time - Prairie Star Gallery is
filled with
centuries-old art forms displayed in a beautiful
century-old building. It's located in the
heart of downtown Sioux Falls, on Phillips Ave. It's
a gorgeous place, with spectacular art and wonderful
ambiance. We think you'll agree with the 10,000
customers who preceded you -- the gallery and
its art are
fabulous!
The exceptional variety and originality of our art
distinguishes Prairie Star Gallery from other
galleries. Nearly all is from the U.S.; a small
percentage is created by Canadian Iroquois. It
is Indigenous handmade, authentic, and high quality.
The 500 artists we have represented are predominately from
Northern Plains tribes. One might equate 'Northern
Plains' to 'Sioux'. The term Sioux is rich
with history, but it's imprecise like 'European'. Instead think
Oglala, Rosebud, Cheyenne River, Sisseton, Santee,
or Yanktoni. The artists' tribal traditions
influence their art and the stories they tell
through their sculpture, paintings, bead and quill
work, drums - everything.
No matter the artists' tribe or band,
you'll
find our art to be incomparable.
We've been told we have the finest gallery of
Indigenous art, and the most-knowledgeable staff, by
people who have visited galleries in all 50 states.
Preserve the Past - Stop in, and put the
world on pause. Experience a time unimaginable
by today's technological standards: 125 years ago
the telephone had just been invented; automobiles
still were on the horizon; and, television and cell phones
weren't even science fiction. Hard to believe?
Perhaps, but it's also intriguing. Our art
comes from a time before the railroad and telegraph,
when everything was hand-crafted and everyone
was an artisan to some extent. If you are one
of those persons who realizes those days are gone,
and that this art is rare and becoming even more so,
then you owe it to yourself to visit our gallery.
Our customers come from all 50 states and over 50
countries. Most importantly, they return again and
again. We depend on new customers
becoming old friends. A major factor in their
loyalty is the consistent quality of our absolutely
authentic art. Another is the helpful
knowledge we're able to provide about the artists,
the art, and the cultures we represent.
Promote Timeless Art - We're not a museum,
although we may look like one. We
will thrive or survive only to the extent you
appreciate and purchase our artists' original creations.
